Twitter: "Whoops!!"
So you all know that fun little micro-blogging / social network fun that is Twitter right? Well someone there made a little oopsie!! 186 applicants (myself included) for a “Business Product Manager” position were sent a very polite “rejection” email stating that they have decided to go with another candidate, etc etc, and thanked us for our interest. I found this quite nice as most companies do not usually send you a response if you aren’t selected, they just simply never contact you at all. Well, in the wake of being so kind, it seems they mis-typed the email addresses of every applicant (and referal) into the CC field rather then the BCC field!!!!!! ZOMG 186 email addresses released accidentally!!!! What happened next? Hilarity ensued. Their HR dept apologized, their CEO sent an apology, and I made a bunch of new Twitter friends. Hell maybe we can even spark some good Collaboration out of this little fluke? Who knows?
